Diet and cavities — frequency beats sugar amount

How often your child snacks matters more than what they snack on.

Every sugar exposure triggers 20+ minutes of acid attack on tooth enamel. A single dessert after dinner does far less damage than sipping juice all afternoon. Water between meals, milk with meals, treats at mealtimes only. Sticky sweets (gummies, dried fruit) are worse than chocolate — they linger on teeth.
